ATLANTA — Drew Brees posed for a photo with Marques Colston, Jahri Evans and Zach Strief as they came off the field following Sunday’s win over the Atlanta Falcons.

It might have been just to celebrate playing 10 years together and finishing up another season together. Playing together for that length of time is something special.

But it was also hard not to consider the implications. This could be it for these guys. The Saints head into the offseason shrouded in uncertainty, from the coach down to the bottom of the roster. Maybe that picture commerates the end.

“We wanted to take a picture. It’s the end of our 10th season,” Strief said. “That’s something a lot of guys don’t get to share with each other. Me and Jahri talked about it before the game, because who knows? That’s just the reality and that will be the reality every year going forward.

“That’s a special bond there, a special relationship with those guys. Those relations have made my time here pretty special.”

Evans added: “It’s very rare that guys stay together for 10 years, especially on one side of the ball. We got a lot of good memories, a lot of great wins and put up a lot of points. It was the right thing to do.”

It’s possible that all or none of the players will be back next season.

Evans already voiced confidence that he will return, as did Brees, but everything remains up in the air.

I think Colston, Evans and Strief have all played their last game for us.

Whilst Coleman dropped that wide open pass yesterday, that can be easily rectified by making sure he maintains concentration throughout the process of a catch.

I think Coleman had enough of a good game to show he can replace Colston at this point.

I think Evans and Strief are back with reduced salaries. Not as sure on Colston.

Bring back Evans on a reduced salary. That's about it for this bunch.

We are paying Strief $3.3ml next year wether he is cut or not. Who you going to get better for the $1.3ml we save by cutting him?.

He'll likely take a cut in that money if needed too. You dont get good back up tackles for $1.3ml too often

Agreed, if Armstead and Peat are the starters and Strief becomes a backup and keeps mentoring them I think that would be a great deal for $3.3ml.

I agree with you,but will Coleman have the balls to go up and get those passes on seam and crossing routes like Colston? Colston is a tough, fearless SOB!
