The way I'm hearing these idiots on TV talk, I want him to say he's staying. And if he does, I really want to call out every single ass clown who had "sources" saying he was going to leave

He's staying. Just heard from my source. Why am I not really impressed at this point? Seems like we were a fall back option.

NFL Network reporting that Payton plans to stay.

So it seems that the presser is no big deal.

Now let's go remake that defense.

The same ******* who said his "sources" told him Payton was all but gone is now on TV flapping his gums about how Sean is going to stay. My god, only weather men get to rattle off such dribble as a sports "insider" with no repercussions

That is his job. Like all sport analysts the job isn't to be right or wrong. The job is to speculate and generate interest.

He and Glazer and LaCanfora can be wrong 99% of the time as long as they draw eyes to their screens.

Oh man I know a guy who had already convinced himself that Sean was headed to the Whiners and Drew was coming with him because, as he said, "it just makes sense", and went on the talk about good draft spot, room under the cap, blah blah blah.

Can't wait to see that guy again...

Keep Glazer away from those two idiots. He's shown time and time again that if it comes from Glazer then there is a 75% or better chance that its true. The other two couldn't tell you it was raining even if they were outside and soaking wet

Dennis Allen may be back as DC. Something tells me nothing will change. (same coaches on defense + Dennis Allen as DC) . I don't like that.

Yet but he did state there may be some changes around him. I believe some positional coaches will be eventually let go.

To Be Continued...

Dennis Allen did a good job rallying the defense when he took over. The problems were still there yet he found ways to be more effective which was all on coaching.

Dennis Allen did well to limit the Falcons to 0 points in the entire second half.

Get Cam Jordan some help at D line, some help at linebacker and probably a better safety than Jairus Byrd and we'll be okay.

How in the world were we a "fall back"? I am sure he got offered plenty of money elsewhere (probably more than the Saints offered him). As has been said before, if any thing Payton just increased his market value by sounding the market out and used that to negotiate some more money.

Are you aware that Payton is already the highest paid coach in the NFL at $8 million per year? The next closest makes $500,000 less.

Nothing but mindless media hype. Story invention.

I don't like the Allen staying report. I don't know if he fits. He doesn't have a past pedigree to prove it will work.

Did we know SP had a head coaching pedigree when we hired him?

Can't deny the improvement in a short time with him running our D with the same personnel as RR. I don't mind giving him a chance. It's not like there are a plethora of DC with high pedigree, as you put it, out there lining up to coach our D.

Holding the Falcons to Zero Second half points was definitely a good start, he needs to build a menacing D line though. It all starts upfront and our weakness there shows up against even average O lines.

How do any of you know which assistant is the problem?

They do the bidding of the DC.

We have no clue who's responsible for what. We just assume.

Payton is under contract. Any team other than the Saints talking to him or his representation would be guilty of tampering.

If Payton really wanted out, I don't think the Saints would have held him. However, as Payton himself pointed out in the press conference, it's unlikely that any team would be willing to put up a Gruden type package (2 1st round picks + $8 million) to get the guy.

We have been through 5 DCs with the same position coaches.... The real question is why are they still around?

But not all assistants have been here the entire time. Bill Johnson for instance, has only been here since 2009.

Re: Payton Press Conference at 2 PM CST (UPDATED)

Yes there are issues with the team that need to be worked on going forward, but no matter how you slice it, today's press conference was an epic trolling by Sean Payton, of the haters and doubters and the people who were ready to jump off the bandwagon or throw him under the bus. Look at it this way. I think he basically turned off the light, let the roaches scurry around for a while, then turned it back on and watched them FREEZE in their tracks. Not like he had tons of friends everywhere in the media and sports world already, but now he knows EXACTLY where everyone stands. Including parts of the fan base, if you think about it that way.

Today was EPIC. He talked for an hour, not a single "next question" or blown off answer. He answered EVERY DAMN QUESTION THEY ASKED HIM, even Mike Triplett, and kept going and going. It was freaking beautiful. Like it or not, at least for right now, this moment, he has every single doubter and hater on the ropes, and every single Saints fan with any kind of heart feeling a whole lot better tonight. Like Ice Cube once said, it was a good day. I'm sorry I'm not gonna let any negative Nelly cloud up my sunshine-pumping right now.
