Unfortunately I have a feeling he is going to cancel it and the agony train of speculation will extend possibly into the weekend.

My buddy that I have my season tickets with, he has a wife and kids and a demanding job and a real busy life, more than I do. So I told him to just do his thing, and I would monitor the Payton situation for the both of us, and I'd text him and let him know immediately, the minute if anything broke. I'm regretting that now. I've been in agony following this thing!

Is it odd for a coach to have a press conference that he is leaving and going some where else? I mean usually the team / GM / Owner, has the presser.

I read a while ago that he doesn't want more control, he wants better decisions made on personnel and a closer and more personal working relation with the scouting departments.

My guess is that he wants a real football guy identifying who to get, and Loomis to make it happen.

I hope so. And hearing the rumors that he wants to control less and not more is a good thing as well. Let him focus on coaching and evolving this offense and have better people helping on defense, management and personnel. Knowing your limitations and effecting change to be more specialized is a humble and elite skill to have. Praying he is back.
