this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; How in the world were we a "fall back"? I am sure he got offered plenty of money elsewhere (probably more than the Saints offered him). As has been said before, if any thing Payton just increased his market value ...

How in the world were we a "fall back"? I am sure he got offered plenty of money elsewhere (probably more than the Saints offered him). As has been said before, if any thing Payton just increased his market value by sounding the market out and used that to negotiate some more money.
