Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Turns out that tweet is from 2014. But we don't have the cap.

Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Why didn't I see the date of that? That was right before the season opener in 2014.

Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Thats a really decent list. I don't think we get Sitton? I like Desir, Poutasi, Grissom, annd Johnson. I would love to take a look at Beavers.

Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
Well now we have a market price for Offensive Guard...
From Walter Football... Sept. 3 Updates Bears re-sign G Kyle Long (4 years, $40M; $30M guaranteed): B Grade This may seem like a lot of money for Kyle Long, especially after a 2015 season in which he didn't play all that well. Long, however, was miscast as a tackle. He's been much better in the interior, however, and I can't exactly blame the Bears for giving him a long-term extension. I'm not going to give the Bears an "A" or something else in that range, as they're not getting a great deal or anything. But this extension makes a lot of sense, as the Bears will have the cornerstone of their offensive line around until the end of the decade. I'm willing to give Chicago a solid "B" grade as a result, as this contract is what it should be. Source: 2016 NFL Free Agent Grades: WalterFootball.com[/QUOTE] Note: Saints never did get a grade outta Walter Cherepinsky on the Paul Kruger FA signing... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
paul? grade? same as his play. INCOMPLETE.
As for the market value I think that fair a value for a Sitton is 30 years old a cap hit of $6.85 million Reason cut? youth movement. He has two or three years left in the tank easy. Three year deal might be the kicker to make it happen. probably the 7 to 8 million a year RT Strief RG Peat / Barnes C Unger LG Sitton / Barnes LT Armstead Peat? swing OT in training how to do it? Micky needs to set up a funky contract and kick the can down the road Designate Jairus Byrd as a post-June 1 release and save $8.3 million Release C.J. Spiller? save $2.4 million and Draft or FA for a replacement player like Christian McCaffrey bigger question Cut Zach Strief? save $2.9 million but will Peat be ready? If not get a sack of beams for the kid and look to the Draft is shaping up as a good one for RT Cut Barnes or not and chase Kevin Zeitler ROG Bengals in 2017 as a FA RT Peat? Draft? RG Zeitler / Barnes C Unger LG Sitton / Barnes LT Armstead Look Defense can take those baby steps in rebuilding and suffer growing pains. Not like we are trying to save it. Its on life support and under long term medical care. The offense is what will get us back to the promise land. As Drew goes so do the saints |

Re: 2016 Saints Free Agency
IF we sign any vets prior to Game 1, it'll only be Josh Sitton...
Saints will not want guaranteed contracts of marginal veterans on the roster prior to Game 1... And then we'd have to see what'll take in compensation for Sitton... Do we commit three years, ten mil avg per to get maybe one good year outta the guy? |
