He might actually have some decent trade value at a position we can afford to deal.

As Bobby Hebert said, he's no Drew Brees but from all the starting QB's he's seen in the NFL, McCown would be about middle of the pack as an NFL starter.

I don't think we have the supporting cast right now to seriously compete for postseason if Brees went down, so McCown doesn't really do us much good other than fill in for a few games if Drew needs to sit.

I think its worth a gamble to trade McCown to either add some help along the O-line or a mid-round pick in next year's draft.

I wonder if McCown for Leary straight up is workable?

As long as the Mickster understands, we don't have to give up draft picks!

If anything, I'd find a way to package Byrd with a contract redo to minimize our cap hit...

Then you can let Bell get on the field and justify taking him with two draft picks...
