ESPN writer attacks Saints’ ‘wasting’ of franchise player
this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Sando mentions the "Brees and Flacco effects" and makes no mention of their salary cap gobbling numbers... Sorry, glad he's our quarterback, but Brees and Flacco got a little too greedy......

Though I agree his contract takes up alot of cap space, the Saints have signed some big names in free agency during this time, but several have been big mistakes. Brees makes the offense. His contract is worth it. If we could sign one defensive player who would make as big an impact on the defensive side of the ball as Brees does on the offensive side I'd be OK with giving him the same amount of money.

Twenty-five, or more, other teams would have loved to have had Brees at those exact same numbers. This is a business and the players are businessmen first and foremost. Any QB stupid enough to sign a deal for less than their market value is an idiot and I certainly don't want an idiot at QB.
Brees and his contract have NEVER been an issue with the Saints success, or lack thereof. |
