this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I know this is being optimistic (Saints terms: neva gonna happen), but would a trade w/ our 1st rounder and Darren Howard, to move up and pick the Texas LB be plausible??...

that would be a coup for the other team...maybe howard and maybe picks but not both.

Plausible? You betcha. Will it happen? Who knows.
It really doesn\'t matter to me if we keep Howard or make some sort of Trade. I know what we\'ve got with Howard and I can see him making a lot of plays if he returns. On the other hand, it\'s a perfect situation for a trade. Will Smith gives us the perfect scenario for that to happen. It\'s a win-win situation. |

This is getting embarassing -- I agree with Gumbo again -- in any case I think we could trade up with Howard and our 2nd rounder -- Howard is still young and is a pro bowler so he is worth a lot to the right team. Now if we could pick up Johnson and still have our 16th what a bonus

i think a 2nd outright for howard is optimistic. why do that deal if you can get spears, pollack, or cody for a fraction of the price? he\'s a good guy but whoever wants him will have to negotiate 6mil+ per year for 3-4 years at least. that is why a proven top corner like mckenzie could only get a second and a player- and he is at a heckuva lot better price that he wants negotiated up eventually.
to move howard and #16 would have to be to a good cap situation team wanting a de. that could be dallas or sd but that is only 12 & 13 and dj is gone before then. [Edited on 25/2/2005 by LKelley67] |

The way the draft is shaping up and statements made in various articles about how the 49ers picked a bad year to draft number one, it is very plausible that we could trade Howard for the number one pick overall, straight up.
