I'd like to see Bryd play another season anyway. Just to see what he can do with a different DC. I still believe he could be a special player. Some people said the same about Ingram and he worked out well and had a great season this year.

Agreed, the fact that Loomis still has a job after all these bad decisions is puzzling.

I guess you two have missed the boat. Loomis has made no "bad decisions" or "poor calls". All he has done is make Sean Payton's wishes possible within the cap constraints. Loomis is simply a genius of a cost accountant. He has next to no say in personnel decisions. He is not responsible for any lost money whatsoever. He has his job because he is the very best in the league at doing the supposedly impossible. I will guarantee you that he has the cap planned out years in advance. So many GM's live in the now with little clue how to maximize the budget.

He took sole responsibility for the Junior Galette fiasco just a couple of weeks ago and that's cost us about 10 mil currently.

And it hasn't been all bad. We've signed some pretty good players via trades and free-agency

Drew Brees
Darren Sharper
Jonathan Vilma
Curtis Lofton
Max Unger
Willie Snead
Darren Sproles
Lance Moore
David Thomas
Keenan Lewis
Jabari Greer
Delvin Breaux
Raphael Bush
David Hawthorne
Anthony Hargrove
Bobby McCray
Broderick Bunkley
Hollis Thomas
Steve Gleason
Heath Evans
Hoomanamnui
Jonathan Goodwin
Scott Fujita
Scott Shanle
Ben Grubbs
Ben Watson
Jeremy Shockey
Randall Gay
Tim Hightower

I think Loomis' track record is better than people realize.

Very valid point, one thing that the list shows me though is that most of those players were not splashy multi million dollar signings besides maybe;

Brees
Sharper
Vilma
Lofton
Unger
Lewis

Loomis seems to pay the big bucks quite often (credit to his cap shuffling skills) but the players never turn out to be what we expected.
The Patriots didn't break the bank for Randy Moss, they signed him to a one year deal and let him prove himself.

Of course he took responsibility. Was he going to throw Payton under the bus? Everyone that really matters knows it wasn't on him so it means nothing for him to claim responsibility. Benson, Payton and Loomis couldn't care less what you or any other fan thinks. In relative terms we don't know ****.

This is the house that Rob built on that side of the ball. He went and got player that Rob wanted to make his defense work.

SP allowed it at the risk of the offense each and every time since Rob arrived. SP made do with what he had to get a defense on the field to help them win. SP held up his end of the deal Rob did not

Valid point. plus have a secondary that does not play the IR shuffle in and out game all season long would be a huge help.

I hope not. I think with a little pass rush he can be really good for us back there. He did as well as anyone this year once healthy. I think the best way to fix the situation(s) in our defensive backfield is to get a violant pass rusher next to Jordan.

And this. Loomis does not make the bad decisions. Loomis gets the money that Payton and other coaches need to get the players THEY want. Payton makes the decisions on how to spend that money. We are up against the cap every year and somehow Loomis finds money to get big free agents. The coach and staff just pick the wrong players.
I dont think paying JR was a horrible idea. If he had kept his mouth shut and played like he always did our pass rush would have been a lot better and none of us would be griping about his contract.
We have no idea what went on behind the scenes there.
