Major, I really like the kid; his background, story are one of the best for the Saints in a while. Like you, really, really pulling that he has a breakout at camp as well...

Mixed bag on Jenkins; it's hard to expect consistency from a guy when his role, responsibilities change season to season...

Brought in with two draft picks to be a "0" gap nose tackle for a 3-4 defense that never materialized...

He had a torn bicep during the offseason training program going into the second year...

Last year he was asked and slimmed down for some hybrid 3-tech role in a Ryan-Allen compromise defense (Ryan got all the blame, but shouldn't have been two coordinators)...

Regardless, Big John has got to man up and make the most of it; if he's not happy with the direction, he can leave via free agency and show he made a great effort...

It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

Three observations as this year's roster has evolved:

One, Saints FO is going to throw as many linebackers against the wall till something sticks - there will be opportunity...

Two, make no mistake, we will be a true 4-3 defense when we come out of training camp - no matter the costs...

Three, at some point there will be some reaching out to move quality talent for needs - who handles these moves?

New Orleans Saints to sign kicker Connor Barth, ESPN reports | NOLA.com

The New Orleans Saints are signing former Buccaneers kicker Connor Barth following his tryout at rookie minicamp, according to ESPN...

Barth was released by the Buccaneers after they traded up in the 2016 NFL Draft to select Roberto Aguayo in the second round.

Barth, 30, is a 8-year veteran who was with the Buccaneers from 2009-15. He has made 139-of-164 career kickers (84.8 percent), but made only 23-of-28 kicks last season and missed a PAT.

All of his missed kicks were 40 yards or longer...

Re: 2016 New Orleans Saints: Roster Outlook

4 possible June 1 cuts for Saints - Today's Pigskin

For the New Orleans Saints, the moves they make before June 1 could be massively important for them. Why? Mainly because of the fact that they are currently over the salary cap by $495,969. This means that they’ll likely be pretty active and searching to try to make a few moves to free up cap space. With that said, we’ll jump into it and take a look at four players who the Saints may choose to part ways with before June 1 in order to get things in order with their cap space...

John Jenkins...releasing Jenkins will fee up more than $1.6 million in cap space, while resulting in just $141,890 in dead money...

Kai Forbath...made nine of his 13 field goal attempts, while going 33 of 34 on extra points...(his) release before June 1 would free up $600k in cap space, while leaving the team with only $80k in dead money...

Michael Mauti...releasing him will free up $675k in salary cap, and won’t cost the team a single thing...

Tony Carter...Releasing him frees up $600k in cap space and doesn’t cost the team a thing...see this happen from time to time where a player just doesn’t stick with a team, and soon after being signed, gets released... and throughout Carter’s entire seven-year career, he’s played in 42 games and totaled just 49 combined tackles and three interceptions...

I'd rather release Jairus Byrd than Michael Mauti

At least Mauti made at least one memorable play last season with that blocked punt, can't for the life of me think of anything good about Jairus Byrd.
