this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; JP, Jake doesn't get a lot of pub but what has been your take so far? I see a smash mouth special team demon....

The jump in the complexity is a lot to discern, the jump in competition is a lot to adjust, and the the jump in physicality is a lot to absorb... Both players physically and in attitude must offer something for the Saints to keep them around... And Lampman was boosted from the PS to the roster, so he's obviously valued... I'm looking forward to seeing them make the second year jump... What little I did see, Lampman has adequate speed, runs good routes (for the ones he does know) and has terrific upper body strength to shield the pass trajectory against the defender or out and out fight for the ball... I'd like to see him get targeted by Brees around 4-5 times per game on the remaining schedule with a variety of looks for a healthy evaluation and to see if he could push Coleman... Zimmer, as strong as he is, has probably gotten by on brute strength like Onyemata had, and will need to be coached up with technique which may not be a bad thing having him so raw to work with (without bad habits/technique)... I'd also like to see a heavy dose of Murphy and Lasco these last three games for a preliminary tryout (Hightower is a free agent, again)... |
It's not that my way is the right way, I just make the right way my way...

That is a very good observation. When I coach I love having an athletically gifted player to work with for that exact reason. Makes me not have to spend any time correcting bad habits but can just work on teaching new stuff.
