What the Superbowl showed me
1. Defense still wins championships, despite the rule changes favoring offenses.
2. Von Miller is a freak. 3. Lady Ga Ga has some pipes. Nice job. 4. Coldplay, Beyonce and Bruno Mars suck. No wonder ISIS wants to kill us. 5. Cam is exactly who most of us said he was. An overrated spoiled brat. 6. Peyton’s arm is totally over. I can throw a football farther than he can. 7. Wade Phillips is a defensive guru. 8. I want a Luke Kuechly on my team. 9. I want a Josh Norman on my team. 10. Media are way too obsessed with the emotions of these gladiators. This ain’t Housewives of the NFL. 11. Defensive speed is the new normal for the NFL. "Slightly under-sized" is now passe. 12. In a copycat league, athletic O-linemen may be the kryptonite for the new speed defenses bound to emerge. If we can't get a stud pass rusher, another freak O-lineman like Armstead will do just fine. 13. It doesn't matter if you run a 3-4 or a 4-3. Both can be dominant. |

Lady Gaga was amazing. She should do next years halftime show. She has the talent and showmanship to pull off a great one. That defense was fun to watch. I couldn't wait to see them get back on the field. I enjoyed watching them as much as a greatest show on turf type offense. Bet it's nice for those Broncos fans not to have to hold their breath and cross their fingers each time the defense takes the field. Oh why couldn't we have gotten Phillips instead of Ryan. |

Re: What the Superbowl showed me
Cam really did show how much of a ***** he really is. A real champion uses a loss to gain perspective and can come out of it with dignity. A real champion knows how to handle the adversity of a loss. Payton says it all the time. How you handle a loss speaks volumes about the character of your team. Cam has never really been on the losing end of anything meaningful and isn't mature enough to handle it. With his personality type this could easily put him and the Panthers in a tailspin.

The saints haven't forgotten about defense. They've tried year after year to address it.

Re: What the Superbowl showed me
Everyone is seeing the rules and league evolve into a passing, offensive driver league and it's amazing to see that a dominant defense still trumps all. I don't blame teams for focusing on offense and the passing game because of the league changes. I hope this opens our eyes further to the necessity of addressing our defensive liabilities.

Re: What the Superbowl showed me
Love the fact the defenses were aloud to play.
Referrers stopped throwing Ticky-Tacky Fouls all the time. This is what this super bowl was about: which offense could take the pounding and not flinch when they had a chance to put what few points they could on the board, against two of the best defenses in the NFL I love old school football. hit them hard and hit them often. They will get scared and flinch. This is the way football is meant to be played. Cam crapped his pants and came back in the second half with a superman diaper on. They beat the desire and willingness to win out of him by the end of the 3rd quarter. He flat gave up on his team. Dude is still hearing foot steps. peeing his bed and jumping out of his skin at every little sound still. Cam could never be an old school QB. |
