It was just a couple of months ago when speculation swirled that the cap-strapped New Orleans Saints, headed for their third 7-9 finish in the last four seasons, might be poised to move on from coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees. That narrative has now been completely debunked. Six weeks after Payton cast his lot with the team, saying, "I don't envision myself coaching any other club," general manager Mickey Loomis said the Saints not only want to keep Brees, a nine-time Pro Bowler, but to extend his contract.
