Colston's Impending Release
We knew it was coming, but that won't make it any easier. |
Re: Colston's Impending Release
Sad day in Saints history if it happens! The Quiet Storm will be missed!
|
Re: Colston's Impending Release
Just read about it on ESPN. Wonder if they offered him what his dead money is going to be or just decided to release him.
|
Re: Colston's Impending Release
I know his play has dropped off significantly but I really wish we could sign him to a fair contract and keep him in NOLA until he retires. He could still maybe be #2 or #3. Idk. It's just kind of sad.

Never know until it actually happens. Could squeeze one more year financially if everyone wants it, we'll see. I am holding out hope.

If this really is the end for Colston then thanks for all the catches, all the first downs, all the catches over the middle, all the touchdowns, the leadership and all the team records you have accomplished. Thanks for showing the youth of today how to play wide receiver in the NFL without being a selfish loud mouth diva. Thanks for every play you made to bring a SuperBowl trophy to New Orleans Greatest WR in Saints history |
Re: Colston's Impending Release
Hope he retires a Saint. He'll regret it if he doesn't, and we will also.

Re: Colston's Impending Release
Thank you Colston. You will be missed.

Re: Colston's Impending Release
This one is right up there with Deuce McAllisters tenure. Colston will always be one of the all time greats to have worn the BnG!

Re: Colston's Impending Release
Thanks for everything Colston.
You always put the team first, never got in trouble off the field and became one of the greatest draft steals in the NFL. I hope he retires a saint. |
Re: Colston's Impending Release
He has to retire because I'll be physically sick seeing him in another uniform.
|
Re: Colston's Impending Release
A model football player.
A model Human Being. If I could I'd thank him personally for being an example we can all follow. Thanks Colston. You are truly the man. |
Re: Colston's Impending Release
So many memories. He will be missed.
Just how does ESPN get this info & local media doesn't? |
Re: Colston's Impending Release
Another tough one to stomach, but reality is he isn't worth 6 million now. I could see us coughing up another 2 to give him 4.7 a year, but don't know that he'd take it
Sad day- one of my top three favs ever |

Re: Colston's Impending Release
A great WR that was passed on in the pro-bowl time and time again. He made some great highlights in his career. I hate to see him go but father time finally got him. Good luck in whatever you do. I'll remember you.

Re: Colston's Impending Release
It seems like it was just yesterday that we were talking about this 7th round rookie from Hofstra that was impressing everyone in training camp. Thanks for the memories #12. Gonna miss you.

Re: Colston's Impending Release
He will always be one of our best. If they do let him go I think it makes the likelyhood of our first round pick being a reciever very high. Laquan Treadwell.

Re: Colston's Impending Release
^Idk.
All I know is while it is sad to see the era end with him and all that nolstagia, it is for the better of the team now. He probably could have still been a little productive but his presence limits the snaps for Coleman and Snead. They need to be on the field as much as Cooks to get more targets. |
Re: Colston's Impending Release
Great individual who made the others around him better.
The idea of him playing elsewhere is making me physically ill. |

Re: Colston's Impending Release
My 10 year old son yelled YES!!!! When he read it. I had to put him in check and make him understand how he is one of the best players in Saints history and just how much Colston meant to the Superbowl run. Very Very sad news.

Re: Colston's Impending Release
Keep him at what cost????? Keep a #4 or 5 WR at 6 million? Even at 2 million it would be a mistake. I love the guy just like the rest of you but why keep him when we could drft or sign a guy for 700 K? Sorry to see him go but this is a business.

Re: Colston's Impending Release
A lot of people are often like "why don't we keep this dude around, hes a good leader". And while I don't dispute these sentiments at times, understanding how a locker room works is very crucial to understand why these older guys are often released. Sometimes having older guys around kind of gets in the way of newer guys learning how to lead, because the older guys carry so much gravity.

Re: Colston's Impending Release
I sure hope they eventually bring him back at halftime and let him do a victory lap riding around the perimeter of the Dome, on the back of a convertible, like they have done with Deuce and a couple other guys. I would cheer my lungs out for that. Tears were welling up in my eyes that day when they rolled Deuce around the Dome on the trunk of the convertible, I will never ever forget it. Would like to have that moment with Colston, for sure.

Re: Colston's Impending Release
Now here's what I think. since there's the risk of injury with the three we have, it might be best to get another receiver better than Snead and Coleman to line up opposite Cooks and have Snead and Coleman split the slot. If we end up going after a receiver that better be the case because you can't just have a fourth receiver as good or better than those two sitting on the bench. Snead imo is not a fit for the wideout role opposite Cooks because of his size. He should be in the middle splitting reps with Coleman. And should a injury occur, then we have three receivers playing full snaps in three receiver sets.
