Gil Brandt reporting-
Who better to sit and watch players work out with than Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and his son, Steve and head coach Bill Parcells, along with Raiders owner Al Davis? Our fivesome believes that Hampton's Jerome Mathis, who ran somewhere between 4.25 and 4.29 in the 40, ran the fastest 40 in the history of the combine. We think Deion Sanders ran something like 4.28 when he was at the combine over 10 years ago, so Mathis is extremely close to being one of the fastest people at the combine. He made himself some money because he also did a good job in receiving drills. Harvard quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick took his Wonderlic exam, and got every single question right. That ties him with Pat McInally as the only two people who achieved a perfect score on the test. However, Fitzpatrick finished his exam in nine minutes! That has got to be a record. Pat Kirwan- There are three players I believe will climb up in the first round because the difference between them and others at their position throughout the evaluation process isn't close enough. I think offensive tackle Alex Barron, linebacker Derrick Johnson and possibly safety/linebacker Thomas Davis will benefit from their skills and the lack of competition to supplant them. At least 10 teams are hoping to find an offensive left tackle in this draft, and they have to reach a little if they want one of the few good players. |

Fitz looked good, from what I saw. Watching that kid from BYU throw 43 reps on the bench was a sight. :shockedbig:
Other notes. Biggest suprise for me was Vincent Jackson (WR) out of U of North Colorado. He\'s 6\'4\", 235lbs. He looked more comfortable during the catching drills than any other receiver that was present. It was like catching a football was second nature to him. Matt Jones running a sub-4.4/40 was impressive. They\'re still showing that one handed catch he made during the Senior bowl practices (if you haven\'t seen it, it was pretty damn cool, even for an Arkansas guy). |
The waiting drove me mad....
I don't want to hear from those that know... Everything has changed, absolutely nothing's changed Eddie is a....draftnik? |
