What exactly is the logic behind drafting Treadwell?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; We're undersized on the defensive line...it's that simple... Sign some massive types (NT Damon Harrison, DE Malik Jackson, DE Cedric Thornton, DE Jarvis Jenkins) and clog that middle, collapse the pocket... We've got edge rushers already on the roster, we've ...

We've got edge rushers already on the roster, we've just got to scheme correctly...

all Treadwell has to do is not run like a TE. his tape speaks for itself

Good politicians answer. Takes time and makes a point over an issue not relevant to the question.

There will be unpolished gems available in the 3rd, 4th and 5th rounds or later. A guy like Cody Core at Ole Miss does not get a lot of attention because he was surrounded by people like Treadwell and Engram, but he will emerge as a solid NFL WR.

Either way, we need a WR badly. This is a bad draft for WR's.

We can't enter the season with our top 3 WR being Cooks, Snead and Coleman.

And an equally bad class of free agent wide receivers...

Re: What exactly is the logic behind drafting Treadwell?

WR draft is not as stellar as the past few but there are some solid prospects to be had on each day.

short list

Laquon Treadwell Ole Miss WR
Josh Doctson, WR TCU
Tyler Boyd WR Pittsburgh
Micheal Thomas WR Ohio state
Trevor Davis, WR California
Tajae Sharpe, WR, UMass
Cody Core WR Mississippi
Mike Thomas, WR, S. Miss
Mekale McKay WR Cicinatti

Dual threats RB/WR types

Ezekiel Elliott RB Ohio state
C.J. Prosise RB/WR Notre Dame
D.J. Foster RB/WR Arizona State

Now this is a very thin year for TE with blocking skills just case we face JJ Watt

Nick Vannett TE Ohio State

So early or late or even FA there is a way to help Drew out

I hope we do draft a TE. I also wouldn't mind seeing Sharpe in a Saints uniform. Sharpe has an unlimited ceiling and should be a day 1 starter.

Re: What exactly is the logic behind drafting Treadwell?

Dominate the line of scrimmage, dominate the game.

I'm sure you will be able to get very good "value" wide receivers and RB's in the second and third rounds of the draft.

Billings, A Robinson or Butler will be the Saints pick @ #12 .

Book it.
