Where has it been proven that signing a bunch of high-priced free agents means you win the Superbowl?

Patriots don't do it. Green Bay doesn't do it.

I agree. I think we should change our ways and build through the draft. I'm not opposed to a few non risky FA's but big splashes have burned us in recent years.

I, for one, never said we had to sign a bunch of free agents to win the Super Bowl. I simply don't want them to spend a bunch of money on middle of the road players. Because while free agency isn't everything, it is still a big part of it. And when you keep making bad deals, you not only can't compete in the free agent market, you also will have a hard time holding on to your draft picks down the road.

I don't understand why people think you can just draft and not care about free agency. Every player becomes a free agent at some point. The main thing here is this team needs to decide what they are doing with Drew. If they want to keep him around past next season, then you have a small window to put a team together while he's still here. If they want to take a long term approach, then they shouldn't bother extending him. let him play out his last year and get his contract off the books so that we can start locking up the next wave of core players.

His wife is truly a nut case & I can understand why some GM's don't want anything to do with him. Too bad because Grimes can still play.
