Saints RFA G Tim Lelito Turns Down Offer From Cowboys, Likely To Remain In New Orleans
Originally posted on NFL Trade Rumors By Nate Bouda Last updated 4/4/16 Saints restricted free agent G Tim Lelito says that he turned down an offer from the Cowboys and is likely to remain in New Orleans. “You have to weigh your options and it’s a gamble,” Lelito explaied, via WWL. “So you can go somewhere else and be a backup for a couple years with less money or you can try to go into a one-year tender and do the best you can and hopefully come out with a little better contract after it.” The Saints elected to use an original-pick tender on Lelito at the start of free agency that will pay him $1.671 million for the 2016 season. This also gives the Saints the right of first refusal for any offer he receives from another team. Yep. He wants to start and he ain't doing that in Dallas. Hopefully there is some stiff competition in training camp by a draft pick and another free agent. Also, I believe that he plays RG better than he does the LG position. Kelemete is decent depth and I believe he can grow but I don't want him starting just yet.
