Ravens Agree To Terms With Derrick Mason

The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to terms on a five-year deal with nine-year NFL wide receiver Derrick Mason, it was announced today by Ozzie Newsome, the team’s general manager.

A two-time Pro Bowl performer, Mason has 453 receptions for 6,114 yards and 37 TDs in 122 career games. He has also returned 156 kickoffs for 3,496 yards (22.4 avg.) with 1 TD and 182 punts for 1,590 yards and 2 TDs. Mason started all 16 games the past two seasons for the Tennessee Titans, and set career highs in receptions in consecutive years.

Mason led all NFL wide receivers with a career-high 96 receptions, gaining 1,168 yards (good for 6th in the AFC) and 7 TDs in 2004. With his 11,202 career all-purpose yards, only Eddie George has more combined yards in Titans history than Mason. He also ranks 4th on the Titans’ all-time receptions list and 6th in receiving yardage.

Known as a clutch receiver, Mason has 16 career TDs in December and 19 career TDs when behind in games, including 10 when behind by a TD or less. He has 13 100-yard receiving games to his credit and averaged 17.9 yards per reception in those contests.

Ravens got Mason....

5 year contract is worth $20 million and includes a $7 million signing bonus. Mason will be paid $11 million in the first two years of the deal.

Which in all averages out to be 4 million a year. Isn\'t Joe Horn making 4.8 this year?
