The days leading up to the NFL Draft can seem rife rumors and perhaps even misinformation as teams plot their strategy and try to determine which players will be available when they make their selections.
New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis seemed to acknowledge as much when he declined to answer a question about the team's needs during a pre-draft press conference on Wednesday. "I'd rather not say," Loomis said. "You guys know it's my goal here to not give you any information." But Loomis said he couldn't say whether other NFL teams might use media leaks -- official and unofficial -- to keep other clubs from knowing their plans. "It is a good question and I do not know the answer," he said. "I only know what we do. We do not put out a lot (of information). We're not a smokescreen team. We're more a silent team. I prefer just being silent and let people think what they want to think. Most of the time they're wrong." read more |
