Dennis Allen is far better versed at putting players in a position to succeed. I can't wait to see how much better this coming version plays.

A-FKN-MEN

Something I loved that DA said the other night- "We are going to be a different D this year, we are going to attack" Man watched first half of nfc championship vs vikes and I miss that D.

Various reports

YAC

Yards After Catch is key to being a productive receiver. Once you catch the ball, you have to be able to turn upfield quickly and elude or break tackles to gain additional yards.

Thomas’s YAC ability is very good, as he possesses the quickness to turn upfield immediately after he’s secured the catch and make defenders miss using both elusive moves and the play strength to break tackles.

Thomas’ has made some impressive grabs during his time at Ohio State, showing the strong hands and toughness to make plays in traffic. You want to see a big receiver play big at the catch point and box defenders out, and Thomas has the my-ball mentality teams will covet.

There just aren’t many weaknesses to Thomas’ well-oiled skill set, as the big receiver is aggressive and physical against press coverage, showing the quick feet to slip jams and the hand usage to fight off longer corners down the field. He’s rarely altered in his route by contact, as Thomas understands pre-catch positioning as well as any receiver in the draft. The Ohio State pass-catcher offers the added bonus of being quite deadly after the catch, transitioning quickly from receiver to runner by working upfield immediately after the reception.

Here is the PFF draft profile for Ohio State wide receiver Michael Thomas, which incorporates PFF’s college grades and scouting intel from our team of analysts. To see all of PFF’s 2016 scouting reports, click here.

Position fit:
Outside wide receiver – 670 of his 711 snaps in 2015 were spent on the outside

Stat to know:
Dropped just five of the 115 catchable passes thrown his way over the past two seasons

What he does best:
• Very good hands, just five drops in 2014 and 2015
• Good after the catch, averaged 6.6 yards after the catch per reception and forced a missed tackle on 23.2 percent of his receptions in 2015
• Uses hands well to defeat press coverage, helping to create separation
• Impressive footwork, looked very good on double moves

I use the eye ball test. In college, nearly half of your games are played against extremely inferior opponents. His overall numbers are very average even factoring in those games. YAC includes any kind of yards after catch. I'm thinking about yards after CONTACT, or extra yards after you're forward progress has been impeded. Something he will see much more of in the NFL. I have no doubt he piled up plenty on wide open throws down field. I saw a lot of Ohio State games, and this guy never did much to impress me.

As far as reading scouting reports, I've read that his route running is not very polished, and that he doesn't really fight for the off target ball.

It makes sense that PFF (the "scouting" service I make fun of routinely) would be the one to try to contradict all of that. I've seen the guy play. I'm not overly impressed.

Undersized DT. Slow WR. Undersized safety. I don't think any will bust, but I don't see any boom at all.

Re: Michael Thomas!!

Slow WR
Players slower or within 0.05 split seconds than Thomas
Roddy White
Dez Bryant
Wes Welker
Mike Evans
Marques Colston

I'm sure Greg Hardy could be had for cheap.

Id be disgusted
He is a cancer,if he wasn't the Cowboys would have kept him. May aswell bring Galette back

Re: Michael Thomas!!

I never heard about him being a cancer in Carolina. I never heard much about him at all until his domestic case that got him sent out of Carolina. I'll take those 10-15 sacks on a cheap contract.

Re: Michael Thomas!!

His talent yes but the backage, bad PR and attitude makes it a no. I dont think he sees the field again

If the offensive lineman he would be facing this year would be women I'd take him in a heart beat. True Story

A lot of his play came off of YAC in every sense of the acronym he also did play in a run first offense with the

A lot of his big plays came off of YAC in every sense of the acronym didn't play with the most polished QB's emphasis on QB'S and had the #1 drafted RB on his team, and still with all of that led the team the past two seasons in receiving, Megatron didn't have the most exceptional numbers in college either, might mean his best football is has to come and hopefully arrives in NO sooner but sticks around for later

Yes, he led the team. With average numbers. I don't know why you think they are a run oriented offense. They pass quite a bit. They like the athletic QB, but they don't use them like, say, Nebraska does.

Again, nothing he did stood out to me. The rest of you guys are free to be as excited as you want to be about him. This is my opinion, based on what I've seen.

I know this is a "highlight reel" but he shows some nice YAC in my opinion.

Did you even pay attention to his performance and attitude last year?? He isn't worth league minimum or the headache.

We needed that big body to pair with Fleener running across the middle. I believe he fits the bill nicely. We still need a speedster to take the safeties off the top and make this system work.

Yeah I don't get it.

6-1, 300 pounds isn't undersized for a 3 tech DT at all.

4.52 isn't slow at all for a 6-3, 212 pound WR.

5-11 200 is not undersized for a FS at all

Tyrann Mathieu 5-9
Malcolm Jenkins 6-0
Reggie Nelson 5-11
Earl Thomas 5-10
Tashaun Gipson 5-11
Glover Quinn 6-0
Eric Weddle 5-11
Jairus Byrd 5-10

All pro-bowl FS's.
