Wide receiver Michael Thomas barely had time to catch his breath on Friday night.

He was on the phone with the local media just minutes after the New Orleans Saints took him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, his heart still racing from what had just happened. At one point, Thomas had to pause just to collect his thoughts.

He wanted to be a Saint badly. After months of worrying, he now knew they felt the same way.

"They were showing a lot of interest and I just had my fingers crossed I'd end up there," Thomas said. "They have a great quarterback, the team, everything about New Orleans. My last game I played in New Orleans (vs. Alabama in the College Football Playoff) ... I just fell in love with that place...

"They just lost Marques ... and the offense is tremendous and the coaching staff is tremendous also. I wouldn't have chosen anywhere else. But you can't pick, they pick you. So I just enjoyed the process."

I think this guy reminds me of Eric Martin. His uncle is Keyshon Johnson one of the best route running possession WRs ever so you know hes been coached in route running intricacies. He runs well with the ball, runs good routes and breaks tackles. I hope he works out.

The kid has the right attitude for sure. Sounds like he is ready to put in the work.

The Saints love him. And I like him.

I believe we still need a burner at WR but this guy will fill Colstons role very nicely. Coleman wasn't going to fill that role because he's not the kind of player who contest balls over the middle. His bread and butter is on out routes and in the seams up and outside.

This kid is a chain mover and will be money in the red zone from the game film I've seen. We needed another tall receiver to compliment Fleener and we got him.

Great pick, but he's a boom/bust type WR.

I'm leaning way more toward boom than bust.

Agree..he has way to much "want to" to fail. If he turns out to be crap, it won't be because he didn't try.

According to NFL reports, MT has large hands (10 1/2). A possession type receiver like this in the red zone could be money.
