Saints' LT Terron Armstead is signing a 5-year extension that will tie him to New Orleans through 2021
 

The Saints and quarterback Drew Brees haven’t come to an agreement on a much-discussed contract extension this offseason, but it appears the team has had more luck with one of the players charged with keeping Brees upright.

Josina Anderson of ESPN reports that left tackle Terron Armstead is signing a five-year extension with the Saints on Tuesday. The deal would tie Armstead to the Saints through the 2021 season.

Great news! And I'm glad it gone done sooner rather then later. I'd hate for him to hit the FA market after the season. He's young and has a hell of a career ahead of him. Glad we locked him up.

I mean he had a ton of upside and athleticism initially, but he was very raw when it came to technique.

I love this move. He is our best offensive lineman by far and overall one of the best players on the team. A five year contract probably means he will be here when we transition from Brees to the next QB and that kind of stability on such an important position is critical.

As the draft went on and Laremy Tunsil drops down the board all I could hear is Watt saying "Do you guys have any other OT" Granted Watt is great but every OT we put on him he made a total fool of each and everyone. To the point it I had to laugh it hurt so bad.

Most teams would double him with a TE or RB.

What baffles me is the saints were able to score 40 against that team in 2011.

Week 10..........Von Miller and then Carolina on short rest. That's gonna be a challenge for Streif.
