I definately can't blame 'em. We need help and we needed it yesterday. And it's hard watching us do nothing for 2-whole days!!

However, the free-agency period is far from over. Still a lot of good players avaliable. No, that doesn't mean we're gonna sign even one of them. But it doesn't mean that we're not either!

There's been several reports that the Saints are interested in some of the top linebackers, offensive tackles, and they are even trying to upgrade OG with J. Mayberry. And it's been reported that a deal is trying to be reached with the Jags for Donivon Darious.

This thing isn't going as fast as I would like, but it's far from over.

I'm going to be patient and see what happens. Until then, I can't bash them when there's still a lot of good players out there..

gumbo for once im with you. we need upgrades especially in my opion at dt and ot. but the period isnt over and i dont think you over pay for people just because thats what you need. at the same time we could really use a real good ot. my opinion is that we are trying to take care of some in house issues first to see what exactly we have to spend to get some of theese guys. we need to get joe signed and deuce.

Joe and Deuce are under contract. There\'s no need to address their contract issues right this second.

What are the Saints going to do if all of the FA LB disappear?

Do they think that they\'ll be able to trade Howard for an impact LB?

Or probably closer to the truth, do they think that they are fine at the LB position with the \"young kids\" and it\'s not a need that needs to be addressed?

:casstet:

Maybe one day \"some fans\" will learn.

Every year I hear the same line! Guys, just b/c we didn\'t sign a top guy in FA doesn\'t mean that it was a bust. Look, we needed LBs, and we got two - Orlando Ruff and Derrick Rodgers. We needed a CB - we signed Ambrose and Craft. We needed a S and we traded for Tebucky Jones. That\'s huge! Now we can use our two first round picks wisely on a guy like Jonathan Sullivan, and then there\'s the June 1 cuts. That\'s where we\'ll get real value. Oh yeah, you just wait and see. We got FIVE guys in FA for what one or two \"big names\" would cost us. Add the draft and June 1 cuts and we could have SIX or SEVEN new starters on D. That will go much further to improve the 32nd ranked defense than ONE stud MLB. I think the Saints got value for their money. - the defense will be much better this year.

Right. How has that strategy worked out so far? Gentlemen, I am a big fan of value moves. Get the most for your money in every situation. There is a difference between a VALUABLE player and a CHEAP one. There is a difference between INACTION and a STRATEGY that focuses on a few key spots.

So far I\'ve heard about OG and TE visits. You\'re telling me that I should be happy about that?

Tony Gonzalez, Larry Allen, and Marco Rivera could all offer to come play for the Saints for free and it would be nice, but IT STILL WOULDN\'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM(S) WITH THIS TEAM. Maybe those guys playing for free could make the team 9-7, and one game out of the playoffs. Yippee.

I agree. Don\'t you think the price on these guys will go down over the next few days: Hartwell, Bell, Witherspoon, McKenzie, Miller, Womack, and so on?

There are still valuable players. Not only that, their asking price will decrease as they are NOT recruited by other teams and bidding wars do NOT develop.

Again, I really understand your frustration. We need to move soon, and history seems to indicate that we won\'t. However, there isn\'t reason to despair just yet. Our first round picks, other than Sully, over the last few years have been decent improvements to the team, so you \"history\" guys can still have some hope too.
