The reason I mention this is to say that it's always been corrupt and always will be and that corruption will find a way to keep the Saints in New Orleans forever. The population of New Orleans was about 580,000 in 1967 and decreased every year until 2006 when it started increasing again after Katrina. The population has increased every year since Katrina and now stands at about 400,000. The New Orleans Metro Area was 1,167,000 as of the 2010 census and most assuredly is 1,300,000 now and this population puts us about 500,000 to 600,000 behind Nashville and Indy but neither of those cities has the charm, character or history of New Orleans and never will. New Orleans is a Super City with a Superdome, host of many Superbowls and the Superest fans in the World. The region has fought back after Katrina and showed it will never die. New Orleans will be raised above any increase in sea level. Relocating New Orleans would be like relocating the Vatican to Mecca. Just like relocating the Saints would rip the heart out of a region of rabid football fans. It just ain't gonna ever happen. |
