It depends on what they're signed for and how that contract's terms, value falls among other Free Agent contracts for that season...

and since we usually cut guys, not "lose" them to FA, it is usually a wash for us. In other words, we won't get anything if Evans or Colston sign elsewhere

and wasn't Boldin cut? if so, he wouldn't count against us
Boldin had signed a two year deal in March 2014 (Seasons 2014, 2015); his contract reached term, he's simply an URFA...

Re: Saints Signing WR Vincent Brown

I'd say there are maybe three safe bets right now among the wide receivers - Brandin Cooks, Willie Snead and rookie second round pick Michael Thomas...

Brandon Coleman is no guarantee with those questionable hands; big guy, working his butt off, but he's got to be a sure thing with those hands...

Even with Coleman in the fold, this is the least amount of experience we've had at wide receiver since 2006 and the arrival of Marques Colston...

Shouldn't that count for something ?
And the fact Boldin wasn't signed?

Too much quan? Not enough in the tank?

Or maybe it's a case of let the young guns play, get reps, develop?

Watson for Fleener is probably a wash, or a neg for us
Our only other significant loss was Robinson, although Bush might factor in as a 7th round comp, BUT, we signed Fairley, Laurinaitis, Robertson, and Stupar
So, pretty much no pick for us either way, so sign away

Boldin is probably entertaining offers from several teams.

Maybe we just aren't on the top of his list?

We simply don't sign big name veteran WR's. Never have under Payton. He likes players who can be molded to fit our system and aren't set in their ways.
Danno likes this.
