Uhh, OK. I think we've upgraded every unit on defense.

D-Line - Much Better
ILB - Better but more importantly smarter.
OLB's - Lots of ascending young talent
CB's - Better
Safeties - Same or better with a healthy Byrd and a hot shot Vonn Bell added to the mix.

We lost 9 games, several of them in the last few seconds of the game due to defensive failures (Browner???), mostly communication breakdowns. I just can't see this team getting worse with all of the off-season additions. We'll play smarter and faster.
You are right but none of that will matter if our offense takes a step back. We better hope Brees can still get it done and our O line steps up. If it wasn't for our offense being top 5 we wouldn't have won a single game.

That being said I think we will be fine. I agree with your 8-8 11-5 assessment.

As far as predictions go, 5-11 looks to be about right. But with that being said, in the NFL predictions rarely ever pan out. There is always an unexpected team make it to the playoffs just about every year. I would say do not go to sleep on the Saints because they have the greatest potential to be that sleeper team that no body expects this year.

look at most of the mock drafts were they predict the seasons and the saints and the bucs are battling for the cellar.

Playing 15-1 Carolina twice skews our strength of schedule greatly. Without their 30-2 contribution our schedule is pretty middle of the pack.

I could see a two game drop by us if we'd lost some significant players, but we didn't.

It all seems predicated on Drew declining. The problem with that is that he's shown no signs whatsoever of declining skills.

When we won the SB, our D finished the season ranked #20. That's all I want this year... a top 20 D and we're back in serious contention.

Not that it really matters but it's more fun to have low expectations and surprise people than high expectations and disappoint.
