Quickness or quick feet are often thrown around as something that is really important for a tackle, and sure it helps, but its not everything you need. The most important part for a tackle, or any o-line player for that matter, is to understand the plays and their nuances. Angles, running lanes, where the ball will be, what the defender will see. By knowing that a good o-line player can put himself in a position to make great plays against somebody that is considered a much better athlete than himself.
Peat is a smart dude and it looks like he is working his tail off. I'd be really happy to see him either at RG or RT this year, it will mean he beat out some other guy to get the job and then we got the best guy on the field. |
