Moneyball equivalent for Football?
Is there a Moneyball phenomenon going on in New England? How do these guys make relative unknowns into a cohesive, winning unit year end and year out without superstars? They seem to only pare off at FA, but wind up getting better.
Are we missing something about evaluating talent that the FO at NE seem to see? There's got to be more or different components to evaluating talent than what's suggested at the combines/workouts. Does Haslett think he's found the secret? |

soon to be released (or should be if not) tebucky jones for a 3rd, 4th, and 7th round draft picks is a good example.

Where is the inflection point on draft position values? I know there\'s a point system assigned, so how does that work?
Also, we\'ve suggested that Howard be worth a 2nd round pick, but he\'s a franchise-designated player (2 1sts). Has he got a \"point system\" designation that would define his value as such? BTW he was selected 33rd overall in his draft year. (He played strongside linebacker in high school, which means he has some idea about the position.) |
