Game Day Rituals: Saints Fans Prepare Like Pros

It’s a fall Sunday morning. Game day. The Saints are playing at home in the Dome. I wake up, wash my face, brush my teeth, and put in my contacts. Then I steep hot jasmine tea and make a breakfast burrito so that I have a good base for some serious day drinking.

If it’s a 3pm game, I will attend yoga at 11am, but if it’s a 12pm kickoff, I fore-go yoga and put on the same record while I get dressed. Dolly Parton. Second Harvest. It’s a great album with a killer version of Jackie Wilson’s hit "Higher and Higher." I have to hear that song before I leave the house or I just won’t feel right.

Up at freaking 4am as usual. do the 3 S's for myself. Then out the door to the store before all the others awaken. Do a few choirs and get everything cooking.

Turn on ESPN and let the whittles banter put me in for an early nap.

Up and at em, grab a beer, get the grub ready and curse the TV because ESPN is still on while I wait.

Back to B&G to kill the rest of the time.

Put on my #12 black jersey and white saints visor. Get the food going. Hit the mancave w a cigar and turn on pregame shows - switching back n forth between ch 4, 8, espn and nfln. Friends usually show up about an hour before game time.

Re: Game Day Rituals: Saints Fans Prepare Like Pros

I am extremely superstitious. I have to wear my Saints hat and Saints shirt(if I'm leaving the house it's a Saints Polo) and my cowboy boots. I fly my flag and either grill or cook up a large pot of something tasty. I always watch the game at home if I'm not on the road.

I always stand just to the left of the TV for most of the game because I'm superstitious and we play better when I stand there. Depending on where I am I may have to go to a sports bar to watch the game but I represent well. I also have the best lady who supports my fanaticism and understands the depth of my superstitions.
