Brandon Coleman not safe!
ESPN Saints reporter Mike Triplett suggests Brandon Coleman's roster spot isn't assured.
Triplett writes "Coleman will need a strong preseason to secure his roster spot" after the Saints used a second-round pick on Michael Thomas, who is a similar style of player but far more talented. Triplett's statement is particularly notable because another Saints beat writer recently suggested Coleman was the favorite for the "big slot" role over Thomas. That never seemed likely. Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
Agree, We will likely only keep 5.
With Harris coming on strong and Cooks, Snead guaranteed spots... 1. Cooks 2. Snead 3. Thomas That leaves 2 spots for the final 5. Those spots typically are filled with WR's who play ST's. Coleman doesn't. So he's competing with veteran Vincent Brown and upstart RJ Harris. I still think he has the inside track, but he'd better turn it up a notch. |

Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
Just glad that we have a good competition at WR. Harris has a good deal of buzz. It is a little early to make these calls. We'll find out more as training camp opens and preseason games play out. Can't wait.

Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
I think Coleman is a lock, just on his size alone.
Coleman 6'6" Thomas 6'3" Fleener 6'6" Good luck defending that in the redzone :bng: |
Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
the saints wont keep 6?
WR is all up in the air and young so if the talent is there why not? |
Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
Coleman will be my surprise cut.

Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
A bit early for me on this one. This will probably answer itself weeks from now. I never rule out 6 wr's on this team because....Payton.

Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
The trends over the last decade would indicate that Coleman either takes a major step forward in year 3, or he really never will.

Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
I really hope no player is safe in training camp. Best player makes the roster, names shouldn't mean anything.
That said, I think Coleman will make the team, if that means the Saints carry 6 WR's, I think they will. |

Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
we've often kept only 2 qb's, i can see that as a real possibility again

It will be a lot easier to keep the FA o-linemen on the practice squad, as someone signing one of them without seeing them in camp would be a real reach |

Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
Coleman is about as safe as Cadet. Maybe a little safer. It will all come down to the level of competition at training camp.

Coleman might be more attractive. I think since he was the go to guy last game of the year that SP sees something |
Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
Good. Means we are strong at that position.

Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
If you want to get paid, step up.
|
Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
I agree. It took Meachem 3 years to be any good and if Coleman can't do it this year then it's next man up.
|
Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
He will make it.

Re: Brandon Coleman not safe!
I was just rereading some camp reports and they mentioned that he caught a long bomb from Drew to close out the practice. It's something I guess. I'm still pulling for him........for now anyway.
