I just think saying we look like geniuses is really myopic. If we didn't have such an abysmal draft in 2014 we might not have needed to trade Graham to fill areas of weakness on our roster. It was a good move to cover for another giant blunder.

I think Grahams cap hit was the reason for the trade; wasn't his hit right around 10 and going up rapidly with each subsequent year?

Re: Saints Look Like Geniuses For Trading Jimmy Graham
I'm just hoping this doesn't reappear with Fleener on the field. On 3rd down this year with Cooks, Sneed, Thomas, Fleener and take your pick of Ingram, Spiller, or Cadet out in the pattern, Brees' only vision needs to be the inevitable open receiver.
It just seems to me that if the O-line can pass protect, it's going to be really tough trying to cover all that talent with any consistency. So here's to no tunnel vision! SFIAH |

Re: Saints Look Like Geniuses For Trading Jimmy Graham
No, cap hit had nothing to do with the trade. It was ALL about getting Max Unger. The Saints originally offered Kenny Stills for Unger, but Seattle demanded Graham instead and threw in the #1 pick, as well. The net affect of the trade actually INCREASED the cap hit on the Saints for the year.

The one thing I have noticed is how we get players that 'fit our system'. You put those players in other systems and teams and they are crap, they get lost and you don't hear from them again. Unless they want to come back... example Mechum.
