I recall reading an article early in OTA's that coaches were spending extra time with him in the playbook, doing one on one's, reads, check downs and what not.

Just a calculated guess but sounds as if GG needs a LOT of work.

or maybe he wants a fresh arm in camp to throw to the 7 guys fighting for jobs, and doesn't want to wear out the combined 71 year old number 1 and 2 guys, especially since both got hurt last year

Our starter and backup aren't young anymore. There are a lot of balls thrown in camp and we want to see Drew's arm strength stay strong late in the year especially since he's getting older. :stupid:

All I know is that the next Drew Brees isn't on our roster. I'm not even sure if he's in college yet.

Yes you have and each time it gets repeated it makes you think about it
again and again. It's a bit unsettling.

But it might have been true two years ago when it was first posited (Danno I believe) but it's not now

Consider a 2016 incoming freshman who plays 2-3 years (depending on a redshirt) and is eligible to leave after 3 years. Now 21, he's drafted by the Saints. 40 year old Brees enters his last or next to last year and then in 2021 we start a 22 year old? Not likely.
Would we be in a draft position to get a qg ready to start right away? also not likely

I cant help but feel like we just wasted a draft pick on him. His contract will be up by the time Drew retires and he isn't going to sign again because he is going to want a chance to start or at least be second string. We could've drafted a DE or hell even a punter and would've got more out of it.

Probably four out of five QB's any NFL team drafts never makes a roster as a starter or even a backup. But, given the fact that a QB is the most important position, I can see where it would make sense to use one pick a year on the position and that is basically the philosophy of Payton and the Saints.
