Tulane stadium, crowd is on his feet, Tom positions himself as if this is just another extra point & BOOM the kick heard around the world. Goose bumps watching the replays years later. It doesn't get much better than that. This video should be played in the Hall of Fame 24/7 for all fans to enjoy. Football is such a great game.

love the straight-forward call from the announcer, no "what the hell are they thinking?"

a lot of strange aspects to the play (beyond why they even tried it)
1) Dempsey was not very good- 61% lifetime FG and 89% on EP
2) It broke the record by SEVEN yards
3) it was 8 yards longer than his previous best
4) they snapped it 8 yards back instead of 7

If the Lions would have had a defender standing under the goal post, he would've been able to jump up and block the ball from going through. That's how close it was.
