'Going for 2' not as clear cut as it seems, Sean Payton says on radio
A conventional thought when the NFL moved the extra-point kicking distance back to 33 yards for the 2015 season was that teams would go for two more often.
In some ways, that proved true. The 93 two-point tries in 2015, according to Pro Football Reference, were a stark increase from the 58 attempts in 2014. Clearly, the longer kicking distance made the chance to put two points on the scoreboard a tad more alluring. 'Going for 2' not as clear cut as it seems, Sean Payton says on radio | NOLA.com |

We need to get better in the red zone.

I don't see an advantage going for to all the time or even more often.
Just don't put yourself in a position to need a 2 point conversion and the conversation is mute. |

How about getting a reliable kicker and letting Payton stay out of his head.

With the K's we have in camp, going for 1 isn't as clear cut as it seems

Consider 93 - 58 = 35, and divide 35 by 32 teams. So teams tried 1 more 2pt conversion each, for the entire season. My guess is that teams tried it more after already missing a kick earlier in the game. Side note- there were only 40 successful conversions, 8 by Pittsburgh and 4 by Green Bay |

I'm pretty sure we went for 2 after every TD last preseason, I can also remember it not going well at all!
