Saints roster preview: Mark Ingram is the leader of the pack
Running backs (3-5)
Locks: Mark Ingram Good bets: Tim Hightower, C.J. Spiller On the fence: Travaris Cadet, Daniel Lasco, Marcus Murphy One of the big developments of last season was Mark Ingram emerging as a true every-down player. Not only was he the Saints' best runner, but he also was the most reliable player in pass protection and developed into a legitimate receiver out of the backfield. Assuming he continues on this trajectory, it will be interesting to see how the carries are split up. Saints roster preview: Mark Ingram is the leader of the pack | Saints | theadvocate.com |

Re: Saints roster preview: Mark Ingram is the leader of the pack
I hope we go with Ingram, Hightower, Spiller and Lasco. Cadet looked good at the end of last year but I still believe that he's peaked and he was available last year after being cut. Marcus Murphy is strictly a return man and would probably be available if an injury occurred.
We may have to find a spot for a fifth receiver before it's all said and done and it could come from the RB's or FB's position. RJ Harris could earn the fifth receiver roster spot to give Payton two down field speedster threats. Like we had with Meachem and Henderson that opened up the middle for Drew and his tight ends and slot receivers. |

Re: Saints roster preview: Mark Ingram is the leader of the pack
2015 Saints had 5 RB's on the final roster.
Cadet has returned kicks and play special teams (added value). Murphy has to shine ... those "muffs" cannot happen this year if he expects to stick. CJ - if 100% he is a dangerous scat back out of the back field. Lasco - could be a steal of a pick if he can remain healthy. Right now he is my X (unknown). |

Never been a fan of cadet
I was convinced he was a better player when he came back this year and then he got the chance to put the falcons game away and fumbled on their 2 yard line. Ingram has quietly developed into a very good all around player, I'm interested to see what Lasco can do in preseason. |
