Postion Battle That Interests You The Most/Is your Favorite New Player In the Battle?
This Training Camp will have several heated positional battles again this year. Which battle are you most interested in? What specifically generates your interest in the position battle? Also, who is you're favorite addition to the team and is he in your position battle?
My favorite training camp battle will be at DT! We need pressure up the gut and I want to see what Rankins and Fairley can do. Pressure will allow our DE's to flourish and allow the secondary to become opportunistic again. My favorite addition is a second thought for most fans. Robertson seems to have game. When Ellerbe was on the field we were a much better defense. But he wasn't available often enough to suit me or apparently Sean Payton. Robertson should fill in for him very nicely I believe and we won't miss a beat. Robertson, Laurinitis and Anthony should create a good line backing core. I'm just killing time waiting on training camp. It's a slow news day. Who Dat! |

For me I think it's going to be at safety.
I think Jairus Byrd is on his last chance, if he does not get into training camp in enough time I don't think he will win his job back from Vonn Bell. Same for Ellerbe - although compared to Byrd, Ellerbe is a great player when healthy, Byrd is not. |

Nick Fairley, Rankins & Onyemata down in the trenches.
PJ Williams, Keenan and Breaux at corner back (in no particular order). |

Guard. We need at lest one of the rookies to step up so we can move Peat out to RT next year.

G and T on the O . I really thought we would have drafted a T to compete with Strief this season if their playing Peat at G. And the D's front 7. I'm sick of them not being able to stop any team up front or get to the qb. I am high on our 4th round monster. We need nasty with attitude up front. I think Ireland has done a good job so far to get pieces for the jigsaw puzzle we call the D now it's up to the coaches and their schemes.

way to many new faces all over the flied for me to pick a battle. right now I have the team ranked as a partial mess across the board.
Gelling is once again the catch phrase going into camp. Players I am watching Can Erik Harris be a starting SS in the NFL by season end? Biggest question Can Coby replace Ben? |

Corner back should get interesting too with Lewis fighting off last years draft picks. Unless Sean holds him out of camp to fully heal. Then the battle will be between the two draft picks and the usual UDFA gem. I like a couple this year.....mostly RJ Harris. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lewis take limited snaps while the rookies get the remaining snaps with the first team and work on the defensive concepts and begin the gelling process. I'm excited about this years potential at corner.
Not To mention we have two safeties that can play the nickle. It's looking like we'll see more three safety sets this year under DA. We just need to stay healthy on the boundaries and we should be much improved. We have the potential with Lewis and Breaux to have two shut down corners. |

Re: Postion Battle That Interests You The Most/Is your Favorite New Player In the Battle?
WR by far. One of our worst positions last year. Definitely the worst receiving core in our division, possibly worst in the league. Thomas, though picked in the 2nd Rd has 2 fellow rookies who match his size and they're both good. They are 2 of the Saints 4 UDFA WRs. Another FA is a white kid, 6" and benched 225 27 times. He plays like a LB. I'm thinking Julian Edelman. Finally we have the little guy, 5"7 165 lbs and super fun to watch. Snead, Cooks and Thomas are locks to make the team. Toon and Coleman are in a dogfight for 2 or 3 spots with these 4 UDFA rookie WRs and dont be surprised if one of em beats out Thomas. Cmon preseason!
