Ranking all-time New Orleans Saints head coaches: No. 5, Dick Nolan
Over the course of 49 seasons, the New Orleans Saints have employed 16 head coaches, including six that wore some type of Interim tag.

Hard to even think about Dick Nolan without thinking about the team that was practically out there on all fours, snorting the hash marks and yard lines off the field; forget San Antonio, Mecom should have relocated the '80 team to Bolivia.
It was kinda obvious to everyone that SOMETHING was wrong....Nolan seemed to me to be sorta "old school" or what back then would have even been called "square"....I just don't think he was really prepared for a whole locker room of young players going bonkers on drugs and partying like that. Those underachieving Saints teams were kinda reminiscent of some of today's current crop of Saints players....remember, nobody ever won an NFL championship at 4 AM in the champagne room of the club! |
