Not the top players or best players. Who are your favorite players?

My first favorite was Jimmy Taylor, he never did much here but he was the first NFL star we ever had.

Next was John Gilliam. Because.....

I was there for that. Thought stadium was going to come down.

Those original Saints will always have a special place in my heart.

Danny Abramowicz was the first guy to make a name for himself playing for the Saints. He was slow, small and talked funny but he was scrappy and had great hands. A 17th rounder who refused to leave camp when they cut him, he went on to lead the the league in receiving and became our first 1st team All-Pro.

Steve Stonebreaker Most famous for starting one of the greatest brawls I ever saw after Tom Hall got cheap shotted on the Giants sideline. After the game was over he went after the cheap shot taker and all Hell broke loose.
He probably couldn't buy a drink in N.O. for years.

Doug Atkins one of the most awesome players I ever watched. And he was CRAZY! He used to cruise Chef Hwy and start fights with biker gangs. Not just bikers but the whole gang!

Archie Manning. Just a humble guy who at one time was the most sacked QB in NFL history. He never complained though, just went out every week and gave it his all.

Tommy Meyers. Would have been an All-Pro player with any other team. Still one of the best safeties we ever had.

Joe Federspiel. The LB version of Tommy Meyers.

Tom Dempsey R.I.P. Tom.

Sammy Knight. He was a turnover machine.

Stan Brock. He was a rock and a great leader.

Rueben Mayes. Too bad he didn't last long because Reuben with the ball under his arm was a beautiful thing to watch.

Michael Lewis. THE BEER MAN!!

Howard Stevens. The best 5'5" running back in Saints history. Had his career ended by a brutal cheap shot while playing for the Colts. He was a great return man and a fan favorite.
