Anybody happy with our acquisitions?
I hate to say it, but I'm hyped. I already know I'm pitiful so thats that. A player to put pressure on an opposing qb and stop a run at the line of scrimmage is attainable. Who knows, it might even be Sullivan. What have I been drinking? The lights may have come on folk for Sully. Pressure will be the ally of our dbs. Another O lineman FA would seal the deal. Then the draft. Lbs. hotdamn!!!!

Anybody happy with our acquisitions?
I like all our acquisitions so far, but something in me keeps screaming DO NOT STOP NOW (though I fear we may be done).
Mayberry - excellent addition AT GUARD, minor upgrade over Riley at RT (at least we can hope he can hear the snap count). I hope I\'m surprised, but I\'m not having a lot of faith in his ability at OT just yet. Smith - excellent addition to our secondary. I think this represents a significant move in our pass defense. I think he\'ll be limited by having to play next to Bellamy who is slowing down. If Mitchell can play, Smith will be a first rate advantage to our pass defense. Mili - I\'m a bit indifferent here. I didn\'t think the Conwell/Boo combination was THAT bad. Of course, I\'m not a huge fan of the TE position, but I still see this a solidifying move. IMO we need a real RT and a LB still. These two moves are what are keeping this from being one of the best FAs in a very long time. I\'d love to see us pick up Dyson or one of the many serviceable corners available. I\'d love Smoot, but I think he\'s out of our price range. I think we still need at least one guy here, unless Thomas is ready to play like he did in 2003. I really think we should see what Womack is asking. Miller, who is arguably better, didn\'t get that great a deal. We should be able to get Womack for in the 1.5 mil range. I also think we should get Hartwell. Even if Danno is right and he is a bit on the slower side, I think he brings experience and leadership to a VERY YOUNG squad. If we don\'t, I\'d like to trade down and get an extra second rounder. This would allow us to get a DT and TWO LBs, in case one doesn\'t pan out. I really think we\'re pretty solid at most other positions. Perhaps we could still use a backup RB, a 3rd WR, a backup QB, and an upgrade at SS; but, I\'ll be happy if we get everything above. |

I don\'t know why but I\'m not pleased with our RBs. Duece is good, no doubt and Steckler performed well. Then again, maybe I should be saying I\'m not been pleased with the O line. I\'m sure if the holes were open, they would run through quite effectively. Once Duece get pass the Dline you have to admit, he verges on the awesome. But Steckler can\'t replace Duece, he can\'t take the pounding. What we need is two Dueces. Duece and Duckett.

TEs, Don\'t ask me why but for the life of me, why isn\'t Zach Hilton not being played? Sight unseen, I think this guy is a weapon that we are not using. Why I feel that way about him, I really don\'t know. I know he\'d be better used in the red zone, But Idon\'tknow.

IMHO
Hasbeen and Co. could take the starting N.F.C. defense from the Pro Bowl this year and find away to have a mediocre defensive ranking at the end of the next season . All that would be left to ask would be Who is the Cancerous player ? Who is overeater ? Who is the non motivated player ? Who is clueless in a system that needed to be simplified somewhere before mid season ? Who wants off the team ? And last but not least . Who does the Staff consider to be undersized and will go to the Pro Bowl wearing another teams uniform ?? |

That\'s true..
I hate that Venturi is still here...if we would have made a real change on the D coaching...we would be a much better team.. I really hope that somehow, they can at least get an average Defensive showing this year... Heck..with a like..18th or so ranked D...we could go to the playoffs... No..I do not predict we make it to the playoffs...I\'m just saying... |

Anybody happy with our acquisitions?
Lets say I am caustiously optimistic about them --I am positive about them because of their physical abilities, skills and talent but there are some obvious concerns -- with Smith we get a possible problem player off the field -- with Mayberry we get a guard and are moving him to tackle. Both could blow up in our faces.
Don\'t think we are going to do much else in FA to really help us so we need to either get something from a Howard trade or in the draft -- -hopefully both. |

I reallydo see a plan unfolding here:
Offense: New coordinator and a recommitment to pounding the ball on the ground. Mayberry as well as the rest of the O Line should be a bonified run blocking group. I agree with Saintuary that we need a solid back up behind Deuce and not over utilize him. This Green Bay style scheme would put alot more pressure on TE position and we would have to be solid there. Defense: Smith is a start but got to go after someone to shore up our weakest link - LB. Gotta stop the run!!! I\'m optimistic with misty optics - we better not be done w/FA!
