This defense will definitely be much better but no way they are going to be top 12

Why do you say no way? Defense went from the bottom to #4 in Ryan's first year.

I agree with the #4 ranking but even being a 4th ranked D that year they didn't look that good as a whole. Rankings are overrated to me anyway. As long as we can field a stout D this season I'll be happy. I don't care where we rank.

Turnovers are about the only stat that directly translates into wins.

I think our guys are a bit new and haven't been working together as long as RR defense. We had a lot of veterans. It was also kind of an anomaly that year. Improvements like that are rare.
