Those who showed up at The Greenbrier on Saturday probably didn't know they were going to watch the best defense of all time.
It was an unreal sight. With Delvin Breaux, Keenan Lewis, Kenny Vaccaro, Jairus Byrd and Damian Swann sidelined basically the starting secondary all sidelined, the Saints defense still managed to intercept quarterback Drew Brees four times during practice. Rookie safety Vonn Bell dropped a fifth opportunity for a pick. Is this defense for real? It's hard to know for sure. At least some of the interceptions were the result of offensive failure. Stronger answers will start coming next week, when the Saints head to New England to practice with the Patriots. But Saturday was certainly the crescendo, at least for now, of what this defense has been showing throughout the summer. And it led to frustration for the offense. watch video here read more |

Re: Saints camp observations, Day 9: Defense continues to make its case by intercepting Drew Brees four times
defense gas some solid veteran additions at LB especially against the pass.
Offense has a lot of new faces and young pups in the receiving game. So i am not surprised the offense is a bit out of sync and needs time to gel. on the good side the defense is showing it does have players with hands. something this team has missed in recent years. bring back harper not only as a mentor but as a player should pay off ten fold |

Does the helmet on the player with the ball say Laurinaitis? I thought he was white? lol

My silent assassin on defense for 2016 is ... SHELDON RANKINS.
Nick Underhill and Larry Holden have observed that he has been getting good penetration, disrupting pass plays & blowing up runs. Add in Fairley, Jenkins & Tyeler and this front can be good if not solid. Hopefully this trend continues. |

I hope your right. Hopefully the defense is playing great and the offense isn't going to be this bad. Drew is just letting them get the INTs just so they can have some confidence going into the season. I HOPE!!!!
