Who the hell is that? Sounds like someone is getting released or going to IR.

Nevermind, I Googled him.

Two sources now, Chris, confirmed...

jnormand, seriously? He may be past his prime, but he was a major intimidator for the Titans in his day...

Well, that someone, im afraid, is likely Keenan Lewis. Cortland played well for the panthers last year. Hopefully he'll be adequate for us.

Corresponding move is most likely Keenan Lewis (as I dare not say the other name that I want it so not to be) and it could be the IR, Designated to return...

Roman Harper probably provided a little scouting nudge as they were Panther buddies, the little b*tches...

Our secondary will have the old dogs in their to teach those young guns how to get real nasty and will test our young receivers in practice as well...

Never cared for him personally but I could appreciate
the way Finnegan would take the best receivers out of their game mentally. The Bill Laimbeer of football. Nasty, borderline dirty.

I'll root for him now since he is on our team.

K Lewis going on PUP list or IR most likely. Breaux, Williams, Swann, Finnegan & rookie ( Crawley or Harris )

He's a badass in your face kinda of player that plays on the fringe of violence and dirty.

If you're looking for attitude, trust me, you found it.

He hates.

Does he have hands like Browner?

I dunno about hands, but he makes Browner look like a wuss when it comes to kicking somebody's teeth in.

That's not the point - it's like KMajor said

That keeps the ball in the passer's hand a split second longer and - WHOOSH!!! BAAMM!!! K-SPLAT!!!, defensive line forces ball loose and the turnovers are twenty yards upfield like the Dome Patrol days...hopefully... ;)

Lewis cannot return to PUP since he practiced in training camp.

This is awesome. He will easily be our best corner. He makes Breaux look like a school boy. I'm totally friggin stoked

Reminds me of Champ Bailey signing.

Peyton looking to make headlines, get somebody's attention!!!!!
If some how makes opening day roster, he won't finish many games
w/ new rules for ejection after 2 infractions.

He isn't better than Breaux. A 32 yr old 7th rd pick that pass his prime that provide experience ONLY to a very young set of corners

Brian Dixon 3 yrs
Damian Swann 2yr
PJ Williams 2yr actually 1st
Delvin Breaux 2yr
Crawley rookie
Harris rookie

What does 7th round matter at all to a player that has been in the league that long. Brady was like a 6th round pick. Does that matter one bit at this point in his career? I see him doing like Sharper. We would not have won it all without him.

You missing the point, I am simply saying he is not our best corner. Yes he can provide that veteran leadership but I don't expect him to walk in and be our #1, #2, or even #3 corner

Re: Saints Sign CB Cortland Finnegan

Let's not forget that Swann hasn't practiced in a while. I don't remember if his injury was ever clarified but that's Lewis and Swann who are both MIA.

I hate this signing. My only question is, where is Andre Johnson when you need him?

In what way
He has nothing left
You dont like him

If he has anything left i like it. But then i believe you need a few players with that nasty side to them. Same reason i wanted Burfict and Setreal Henderson as a late round/UDFA a few years back

I love this signing, yeah he is a bit old now, but a very nice addition to the team! If Lewis doesn't have to miss extended time, this pretty much can make the Saints in excellent shape at CB.

Good at disrupting WR off the line of scrimmage. Mean little man that don't back down. Pure bad attitude on the field. I love this signing, I hope he has another year left in the tank.

The NFL announced a rule change on Wednesday that will have a notable impact on rosters this fall. The league changed the injured reserve with return designation so that you no longer have to designate the player ahead of time. Teams are still only allowed to bring one player back, but they can bring back any one player they've placed on injured reserve.

Previously, if a team wanted to use the one return designation spot, they had to declare it when the player was placed on injured reserve. Now, they can just see who is getting healthy quickly, and take them off IR. Once they take that player off IR, the rest of the IR players must remain on the list.

Don't know if I like it or not but maybe to bring a bit more swagger to the backfield.

Maybe also kicking tires. We have a history of signing players just to see all year long so not going to read to much into the signing.

I hate to say it but this looks like a desperation move. Lewis says he's coming back. I hope this doesn't mean Breaux's injury is serious.

Pro Bowler in his prime. Serviceable rotation guy now. He'll do well in the slot.

True.
PJ looks good but needs more experience and playing time. Lewis is 50/50 on coming back healthy, and could be done for good. Swann is injury prone. Harris and Crawley are rookies who aren't anywhere near ready to start.

It will be interesting to see what Mr. Finnegan brings to the table.

Not hardly. Finnegan is a more refined cornerback & doesn't mug as nearly as #39 does. More importantly, Dennis Allen won't allow Cortland to hurt this team with ridiculous penalties and shenanigans.

If we can get pressure this could work out. I have seen older CB's than him do well with a good push. One I remember was 38 playing for the Rams and he tore Brees and Co up. Can't remember his name but was a fill in due to injuries I believe.
