I know we ALL want DJ, so let's get that out of this convo. What if Rolle is somehow available when we draft? He would have to be BPA. And I see where a lot of us want Smoot or Dyson. Well, Rolle would be ideal in that situation. MM and Rolle with Brown at the nickel. Smith and Old man Bellamy manning safety? Or in the 2nd, we could look at Brodney Poole maybe at S. Or Sharper in FA so we can address LB in the 2nd. Just wondering why there is no mention of Rolle when it seems more likely he MAY be available to us when DJ isn't.

heres my thing--we need linebackers..so if we can trade howard and pick up extra picks or linebackers then sure...but if not..maybe.

rolle would give us a great backfeild and that\'s why I like him..and I\'m scared of some of the other first round linebackers..

That\'s why I brought it up. LBs are a plenty in the draft, but none of them grade out as high as our 16. We may go OT Brown at that point, but if Rolle is there we HAVE to take him. Our secondary would be set for years. Smith is only 26 as well, Fakhir is young, MM is like 29 but I think he can play at a high level for at least 3 more years. That would be sick. Then we need to look at someone for Bellamy soon. I liked Poole in the 2nd, but that is contingent on Howard getting us a LB in a trade, or giving us extra picks to get LBs in the draft.

really everything is contingent on us either trading howard for a linebacker or picks to get a linebacker. all those situations sound great..but will they work out..and would the saints pull a move like that?

as things stand now, the top picks that i think could not be passed on that have a chance of being there at #16 imo are:

qb rodgers or smith. they grade out below manning, rivers, and big ben. remote chance but stranger has happened.

ot jammal brown. fit a need too with 2 slowing (and one that hasnt been fulltime there in a while) OT\'s. watch if carolina picks up other o lineman or receivers.

some might count thomas davis a fall here. i think it is about the right range. no disappointment if smith-bellamy-mitchell is all we have.

rolle? fo sho. even if he ends up better as a safety that works too. i say pacman jones is a cannot pass on cb also. the next group of 4-5 will have one left at #40 if wanted.

With the first pick I\'m inclined to go with BPA. If Rolle is there, take him, but not if J. Brown is; I think they are roughly equal in value and we need an RT still. As far as CB goes, we\'re pretty good right now - of course, an upgrade is welcome.

I like PacMan too, but I think he has to be lower than Brown, one of the QBs, or even Davis (but I\'m wishy washy on that last one).

I also think that a DT would be of great value to us. Thus, it is a hard decision to make, since Hawthorne and Johnson will be there still at #16.

I think you address needs with the caliber of players in the draft in mind. That\'s why all of this tackle-in-the-first-round talk is scaring me. I mean...this guy Jamaal Brown is no Robert Gallery or anything. Honestly we can get someone of his caliber in next year\'s draft. Talented tackles don\'t change that much in caliber from year to year. Can the same be said for CBs???? I don\'t even see how you think twice if Rolle is available. Take him take him TAKE HIM!

Sure...I can agree with that...I don\'t think even trading down if Rolle is still available is plausable..if a guy like that is on the board...he will be snagged up..it would fall into..we need a CB..and..he would likely be the bta...so..it\'s a lock..but..I highly doubt he will be there...he\'s highly regarded..and alot of teams will not pass him up if he\'s there when it\'s thier turn..
