Anyway I think the line is a problem. Everyone keeps saying that Peat gets a pass because he had had to play every position on the line and they won't just let him settle into one. I think the reason they keep moving him around is because he sucks at all of them and the coaches hope that if he keeps moving around maybe a lightbulb will go on for him at one of them. They are trying their damndest to make him fit so they don't have to accept the reality it was a blown pick. I think we will have a veteran lineman signed this week. It wouldn't surprise me to see an Ingram trade. He's got value and they can say his lack of production this preseason is due to the Oline hence the trade. I just don't know if Hightower is up to the task of taking his spot. We have developed RBs very well under Payton, usually UDFA. I didn't see any of the other running backs do any worse of a job than Ingram. I really like Ingram so this doesn't come from a place of emotion, it just seems to make sense. More so than trading MCowin or Grayson. |

It doesn't even matter who the back is. I've never been excited about Ingram, but he's suffering the same fate as the rest. Can't even get up to the line of scrimmage without obstruction. This group is also lacking 3rd-and-1 high percentage capabilities. They can't even get it done when the box is relaxed on 1st-and-10. I know its early. But the fundamental fire in the belly to drive your man off the ball just isn't there. I think we are going to end up back to the pseudo running game. Again. |
