C'mon now. first of all it was 42 years of losing, not 50, but I know what you're getting at. However, the idea that because it used to be bad we should accept another 4 plus decades of losing before we show any signs of disappointment, seems extreme. We are fans, because we like to watch football. It's a lot more exciting when you are winning. Do you think that people weren't complaining for all (other than the few years where they actually made the playoffs) of those preceding 42 years?
That's been the most over used, and illogical statement since we won the superbowl, in my opinion. That we have no right to have a dissenting opinion after that. And the notion that because Saints fans endured all those bad years, that they are somehow a separate race of people, who never complained, and we should all feel lucky that we weren't them... We WERE them, we ARE them. Nobody likes losing.
If you're cool with it, I could just as easily accuse you of being a football pacifist. I could question how much you care, if you are satisfied to settle for one great year.
But I'm just going to let you think what you want, instead, and simply disagree. I will never forget that Superbowl. But that game wasn't the birth of my child. It's meaning doesn't carry over from year to year. It's a happy memory, but it was a game. We watch for entertainment, and I don't know who is entertained by losing. I'm not as down on this team as some may be, I'm somewhat optimistic (though probably more so for next year, depending on the QB situation) but I certainly have my dissenting thoughts and don't feel the need to apologize for them.
