Payton doesn't have a run mentality...
So his offensive line has no run mentality.
They don't even show up with a mind to control or push the line of scrimmage.
They show up on their heels ready to pass block.
The problem with that is you can't just flip the switch on 3rd-and-1 (3rd-and-goal)
and do something that you never intended to do.
We see it week after week.
Teams know Brees is going to throw 40 times.
They worry about the run as an after thought, and it's still not a problem.

Vic Fangio took the Dome Patrol era out the door never to return.
That's probably the Defense Rickey Jackson just might be reflecting on.

I am sorry but I don't have much criticism for the offense yesterday. We gained over 500 yards, brees looked great throwing, people were open. If you're going to game plan then you gama plan around what you see as the weakest link of the other team. Apparently we felt it was their pass d, and we were right. We produced more than 400 yards through the air, and before you come back with "yeah but then why did we lose" that is easy, the other team gained just under 500 yards and scored 35 points.

The offense and play calling was of no issue.

These are NFL players and lineman, they can switch from running tpo pass blocking on a dime, and if they can't then they don't deserve to be here. BTW- the Raiders only ran it 4 more times then we did yesterday.

I love Rickey but just because he played Linebacker for us doesn't make him right.

The 75 yarder was kind of a fluke.
That would put them back around 90 yards, which is acceptable to me.
No pass rush killed our secondary.
You can't even let an NFL backup dance for 7 seconds and hope to stop him.

Carr did have an enormous amount of time to survey the field didn't he? Hoping Dennis Allen can figure this out. We have some pieces to compete.

It doesn't get any easier in week #2.

I know one thing; doesn't matter who is the coordinator we never have any pass rush; the one constant is Bill Johnson(Defensive Line coach). Maybe it's time we lose the constant? And Vitt can accompany him out
