LUTZ

Everyone think about this:

Lutz kicked the **** out of that last field goal attempt. Had plenty of leg but couldn't have been closer to a 61 yard field goal. We came close to winning and no one even Bradshaw (biggest homer of all) thought we would win it. We wouldn't be talking about any of this stuff if he would've made it and I think coach made a great decision to sign him! LUTZ IS NO PUTZ!

Re: LUTZ

For a second, I actually thought he made it.

Re: LUTZ

I'll still wonder, if we kept forebath would he have made the 50 yrd FG earlier? The 61 yard fg wouldn't have mattered...

Re: LUTZ

I like the Lutz signing. It's better to roll with the upside of a young kicker than trotting out a journeyman. If you find the right guy you can be set at the position for the next 10-20 years.

I stated in the game day thread yesterday that the missed FG resulted in a short field for Oakland & subsequent score.

Momentum shifted after that.

Re: LUTZ

hmm who missed a field goal and then later got us into a SB ? Who was that guy ?
Im really starting to think though of why SP kicked a FG there and gave the raiders field possition, knowing our D was not doing well. should have punted

Re: LUTZ

Forbath isnt exactly clutch from 50 yards 4 of 7 in his career

Cant Blame Lutz for yesterday.
Robertson stupid late penalty
The defense dropping off playing soft in coverage is always a mess
The defense missing tackles

Blaming Lutz is like Blaming Brees for the loss because of the sack fumble at the start

Well one could if so inclined. I think that's a mistake often committed by fans and media, trying to place blame on a specific situation, one mistake or big play etc. when in reality its the effort of the whole group that decides the outcome of a game.

And to be on topic. While 2/4 isn't much to write home about, having to try a 61 yarder to win the game in your very first NFL game is a little much. He got a cannon for a leg thou and I liked his maturity in the interview after the game. Might be a good one for us.

Cut Murphy, that field position after kick off could have been a lot shorter if not for bobble and piss poor retun

Re: LUTZ

Oh not not his fault at all in fact I think he bought himself some time. He had the lenght just slightly off and I also thought it was good for a second.

We lost the game because we didn't close.

We lost the game because we could stop the run or even the pass for that matter. We need big WR's like they have as well.

If our Defense could stop a two point coversion we wouldn't be having this conversation either.

YOU SAID IT!!!

I mean if you were the coach of the Raiders and you were in that situation.

- Go for two and the win NOW!
- take extra point and live to fight in OT with 50/50 chance that Brees gets the ball and scores and you lose.

You go for two against our sorry ass D!!!

I bet he even called it during the drive that we score the TD we are going for two to motivate the team during that drive and even told Carr because he was already signalling it as soon as they scored the TD.

SP will always be cursed with choosing Kickers, he let that Kid Hopkins
go to Washington. It's just the way it is for some reason. So now were
on to the Lutz era for a while.

give the kid a break already your gonna hold a missef 50 yrd kick over his head come on guys.

Re: LUTZ

We competed the whole game and got into position to win just like Carolina and missed the kick. If we keep playing hard like that all season the wins will come. All 16 games aren't going to end with a team going for 2 and a missed kick. That's pretty rare.

saintshrimp 09-12-2016 11:21 AM

Re: LUTZ

the question i would also ask is why Drew made the throw in the middle of the feild with 25 sec left with no time outs left that costs another play to get closer ay the end of the game

captainshawn 09-12-2016 11:26 AM

Re: LUTZ

Because that's all there was. I'm sure if there had been a option close to the sideline that Drew would have taken it. This loss was in NO way Drew's fault
IMO...

saintshrimp 09-12-2016 11:35 AM

Re: LUTZ

No I'm not saying it's his fault for the loss at all by no means I'm saying you have to either throw that ball to the sidelines or out of bounds and fight with the two plays that could have been run but that 10-12 it took to spike the ball could have got another chance to get closer

Yep I agree but over all I saw more positives that I thought I'd see

Re: LUTZ

Although it sucks to lose, I did like a lot of what I saw. O-line was not the train wreck we all were expecting to see. Secondary fell apart in the 4th but that was after they lost Breaux. Up till then I thought they pretty well. Sunday when we beat the G men, we'll all feel better...

WHO DAT!!!

To win Sunday; they're going to have to find an answer for the loss of Breaux

I'm Nutz for Lutz. I saw kickers missing PATs all day.

I was yelling "GET BACK GET BACK" WTF was he thinking? That was janikowski...
If he goes back 10 yards, and doesnt just give up right up the middle, we should have gotten a decent return.
