1st let me try to demonstrate our Saints' front office's mindset as of now. Defense: DT-Sullivan/Green/Smith/Leisle/Bryant/Whitehead. We have no real superstars opposite Young but one of these should step up. Maybe draft one in the 3rd or 4th if a good one slips, but we think Sully may develop and Leisle should too. Green and Whitehead and Bryant are servicable. Kenny Smith is also a viable option. CB-We're set with McKenzie/Brown/Thomas/Craft/Ambrose and even Craver. Maybe a mid-rounder for the future. But unless Rolle slips forget it. If Carlos Rodgers is there at 40 (fat chance) then maybe. Targets: LB and Safety. LB's 2 thru 10 aren't much different potential wise so if DJ is gone we'll wait till round 2 or 3. If Thomas Davis is there at 16 we'll take him. He's a quality SS. A definite playmaker. Of course we'd convert him to a LB but thats besides the point. Offense: Maybe still grab a OT early if one slips, but we think we're set. A mid-round TE is feasible, as well as a possession type WR. And maybe a late round QB to groom behind Brooks then trade off to be a smashing success elsewhere. Yep, figure I don't even need to watch the draft now. Perty much know how its gonna go. |

Until we trade all picks and go draft Ronnie Brown cause noone expects us to, and we will show everyone this front office knows what we need better than they do.

Kenny Smith is a pretty darn good DT...he was heavily pursued last year by several teams..including Denver.
I put LB just a hair above CB as far as needs go..We really need both..although McKensie was a huge upgrade for us. But..I can agree, we need both... I heavily advocated the addition of a 1st round Safety, I have all Off Season...But..with the addition of Smith, it might be one piece of the puzzle that could wait...that is, IF we were talking about a normal Safety... Thomas Davis is the most versatile player in the Draft..BAR NONE.... IF we get him..we are going to be so much better at whatever position they decide to play him...because he can , and has played both Safety positions..and LB!...He\'s the perfect match for our needs... |
