No way! They won't vote for the rapist.

Re: Sharper nominated for HOF
They wont vote him in but they had to at least have him as a nomination as the bye laws say only onfield is considered

Re: Sharper nominated for HOF
As a football player, he deserves consideration.
The NFL doesn't have to go into detail and advertise all the horrible things he's done off the field. If kids see his bust in the hall, and Google him, then they can read about what he did off the field. But history is history, you don't erase it just because you don't agree with it. Otherwise, you're taking away a good learning opportunity from younger generations. |
Re: Sharper nominated for HOF
I am usually against mixing on field performance with a person's character. I don't respect people who break rules or who act like idiots. But I don't think it matters when talking about performance awards.
But there a couple of extreme things that disqualify a person, as far as I'm concerned. If you murder someone, rape someone, molest a child or anything of that nature, you forfeit everything else. It's true that it still doesn't technically take away from the on field accomplishments, but the idea of bringing any sort of honor to the name of that type of criminal does not sit well with me, personally. I am certain Sharper won't get in, but I know some will argue that he should. I just don't agree. Sharper is a serial rapist. We're not talking about a guy who simply hired a prostitute, or just had one situation where some things got out of hand. He made a habit of this. I don't really care what he did on the field. How do you honor someone like that? |
Re: Sharper nominated for HOF
He ain't gettin in, unless the whole rape thing is part of his bio.

Re: Sharper nominated for HOF
After reading the HOF's official mission statement, I redact my previous post. He shouldn't get in. Part of the qualifications are the values of the game.
That being said, I don't think being honored by the NFL means as much as it used to anymore either. |
